I would add tough re-election challenge to Welch, and Wardrup. I would add tough re-elect for Hamilton, but I don't think the Dems have recruited a top tier candidate. You are right about Dudley. Ferguson has learned from his mistakes and will have it together this time.

I agree with the tough re-election challenges, especially Welch.

How old does one have to be to be placed on an "age" watch?

Many in the age category are rumored to retire. However a few like Joe Johnson have alreay announced that they are running again. Please let me know if you know if anyone else should be placed on "retirement watch" we'll certainly add them to the list and check into it.

The notion that Frank Ruff will run for a Constitutional Office in Mecklenburg has been put out every 4 years since 1995... wasn't true in 1995, 1999, 2003... not true now. Maybe in 2011.

Don't know anyone else to place on the "age" watch. Being that "age" has been recognized as a protected class in the regular work place, same as gender, race, ethnicity, etc. it seems a bit harsh to presume the word "age" explains why someone's on the watch list. Perhaps it might be kinder to say they are are being watched due to rumor of desire to retire rather than simply just "age". Not trying to be too politically correct, just pointing out that presuming "age" is an adequate explanation for the need to retire might hurt some old foggie's feelings.... Perhaps "rumored to have had enough"??????

Sen Lambert with the complete backing of the entire Democratic Senatorial delegation, and Tim Kaine will not have a difficult re-election campaign. 40yrs of good public service is hard to overlook!

Lambert is going down, McEachin has never lost a primary election...he took down appropriations chairman Bob Ball in 1995 (24 year incumbent) and in 2005 he ousted sitting delegate Floyd Miles in a Democratic Primary....and don't forget McEachin's 2001 primary win for Attorney General...in a four way race. McEachin is unbeatable in primaries! Lambert better get out before he is embarresed.

Frank Ruff is bankrupt and needs the money...hhe can't continue to live off of his senate salary

ANON 10:05 is so full of it.

Tim Kaine has told people he is staying out of this race.

As far as the Democratic Senators, the vast majority won't do a thing. A couple might come out for Lambert -- Dick Saslaw? --and if they do, who cares? District voters won't know them anyway. A couple others will quietly back McEachin but, again, that won't mean a thing to district voters.

In fact, the only recognizable public figure who will publicly take a position is Jim Webb and we all know what side he will be on, don't we?
